L.Q. Jones (1927-2022) changed his name from "Justus Ellis McQueen"
to "L.Q. Jones", a name that he liked having in his debut film Battle Cry (1955).

Belden (L.Q. Jones) was on most of the show, appearing mostly in Season 3, and
made a surprise guest appearance near the end of Season 9: The Men From Shiloh.

L.Q. Jones has sadly just passed away on July 9th at the age of 95.
He was the oldest living Virginian character. He played Belden, a funny
character, who always liked to do practical jokes. In recent years,
L.Q. had attended fan events for The Virginian. - July 10th, 2022
